Higher Purpose Leadership Through Conscious Capitalism (Guest Kymm Nelsen)

On this episode of Get the Balance Right our guest is Kymm Nelsen, one of the founders of the Portland, OR chapter of Conscious Capitalism. Our discussion focuses on the growing movement around purpose driven business and the positive impact these enterprises can have on society and the planet.

Kymm’s fascinating talents include neuro linguistic programming, hypnotism, and teaching HUNA. We dive into her professional experiences which range from website design to being an executive coach at Being First, Inc.  In this interview we talk about the differences between Conscious Capitalism, B-Corp, and the other organizations supporting businesses with a framework to build a better world.

Quote from Podcast:

"When we describe purpose it isn't  our purpose is to make the best widget in the world and do it at the best price and be the most successful it's no. That's mundane. That's what all capitalism is about. And look where that's got us.  We need something that's a level or two above us in this profit driven world. Like what's a higher purpose that can really guide us to be our best selves and make the most profound and positive impact in the world with the business that we're doing. So if you think about it as it, from a human perspective,  there are three energies there's been doing and having.  So what you're doing in your work comes from who you're being.

So if, so that's your consciousness. So when you lift your consciousness and you commit from a place of purpose, then what you do becomes very different. Then it generates something that you have. That is beyond just the mundane. It becomes the quality of relationships that you have. It becomes the knowing that you've had a positive impact the world." - Kymm Nelsen
